Trump administration wants to make it more difficult for LEGAL immigrants to become citizens

This is getting absurd. Now they want to make it so that legal immigrants would be rejected for a green card/citizenship if ANYONE in their family has used food stamps, CHIP, social security disability, Obamacare, etc. They claim it is because they want to make sure that these people are "self-sufficient" and the government is just "being good stewards of taxpayer funds". Yeah right, that doesn't even hold up after that tax cut scam for the wealthy and Trump's trade wars that are hurting American businesses and that caused him to have to prepare $12 billion in aid to farmers. This type of attitude is NOT what America is all about. These programs are designed to help those who need assistance. And now this country is going to deny citizenship to people simply because maybe their family needed assistance with food at one time? Or because they obtained health insurance via the Affordable Care Act? That is outrageous!

It is outrageous. People will soon have to resort to doing what he did. Marry them and then bring them into the country.

@Starmaiden Yeah, that seems like the easiest way anyway.

It would be perfectly acceptable in some parts of the world following tribal laws, like, let's say, Afghanistan. But I have not heard of a collective responsibility of the family for the fault of a member in any European law since the end of the 18th C. Let's make America Primitive Again. We should donate to offer to Trump some good books from Montesquieu and Beccaria to teach him philosophy of law. And as I think that it is the duty of the society to help its citizens when they need help (food stamps, CHIP,... in USA), I will add personally a copy of Rousseau Social Contract.

I see he has logical concerns and everything, but the way he acts is questionable. People should be tested individually and not be totally responsible for what the family did, I agree.

I will vote Democratic next election. I can do nothing more but at least I will vote with good conscience.
