Have you ever used Western Union for international money transfer?

I have to send some money to another country and the other party asked me to send it through the Western Union. Have you ever used it? Do you know how much does it cost? Is there any other money transferring options that you suggest? Thanks in advance

We've sent money from Germany to Italy. It's easy-peasy. It wouldn't help you if I told you how much it cost. Each country will be different.

I haven't tried to transfer money by Western Union but I received money by it from my friend. I think the charge is more although I am not the one who paid for it. Perhaps you can try Paypal to transfer money?

@zhorak Sorry, I don't know about it. But I think it will not be as much as Western Union.

I have used it to both send and receive money. It's convenient but not cheap. Quite reliable. The exchange rates and charges are on their website. Other options will depend on which country you are in and where you want to send.

I sent some money to Belgium and USA with Western Union. It is cheaper than a bank but the cost varies depending of the countries and there is a minimum fee of about 5 Euros, so it is not very interesting for a small amount of money (less than 50 Euros). You should better use PayPal for a small amount, and if you are buying something you should be aware that there is no guarantee with Western Union : if nothing is delivered, you will not be able to complain, it is why scammers love it.

Thank you for your response. I know that there is no guarantee and that bothers me too. But I know the other person a little bit and I will have to trust.

Yes, I use WU to receive money. I could not suggest any alternative because I do not know the location of the recipient and how much is the amount. IF 'millions' I would suggest BANK WIRE if he/she has a bank account. For small amounts I use CryptoCurrency but some countries do not support it. Some people use MONEYGRAM as alternative to WU but it depends on what is available in his/her country/location.

I will check and compare Moneygram too. The transaction amount is 650 GBP from Turkey to the UK. So I think WU or Moneygram suits me right?
