A legendary British writer and Nobel laureate of Indian origin Sir VS Naipaul passed away leaving behind the literary legacy the generations will admire and learn from for many years. I have read few of his titles. The one i liked most is :India a wounded civilization. The book explores psyche of Indians and the historical reason of its making as such. The book is critical to Indian mentality which he attributes to the numerous foreign assault on its soil which as affect battered Indian identity as a nation. "Going ahead downstairs, going piously backward upstairs" ,this quote from his book i had noted down in my diary for my reference. The other book i liked is "The middle passage".It a non fiction but not less than a fiction in narration. I have heard about him that he was not very generous to his interviewers and often sunbed him/her during the interview.I don't know if it is true? He has inspired many english writers in India and one such famous is Amitav Ghosh. Vikram seth is another. Have any of you read him ?Which of his book you liked most? Even you have not read him lets pay him our heartiest tribute. RIP Sir VS Naipaul.
