Favorite TV Westerns

As a kid, there were some programs I saw more than others. Primarily because I didn't control the television. My parents did. So, though, I liked most of the Westerns, I didn't see them as often as I liked. One of those was The Virginian. Two of my favorite characters in The Virginian were Trampas, played by Doug McClure, and The Virginian, played by James Drury. It wasn't until after I was married and had children that I found the name of the ranch interesting. It had the same name as my daughter. Clearly not the reason why I named my daughter Shiloh. Lee J Cobb played the ranch owner, Judge Henry Garth John McIntire played Clay Grainger Along with a lineup of many more talented cast members. The series aired from 1962-1971 Have you seen The Virginian? Thanks for reading. Image from IMDB

I have seen a few episodes of The Virginian television show. Those were the days where television shows were family friendly.

@Deepizzaguy Me too. I love shows that have a lot of action to it, but they can leave out the vulgarity.

@thislittlepennyearns This is a good one, and if you sat for 90 minutes through an episode, I'm sure you'd remember it.

It was a 90 minute western and 90 minute TV series are rare. The show is based on a famous novel that has been adapted many times on screen most famously Gary Cooper as the Virginian.

Shiloh is a lovely name and a lovely sounding word. It rolls off the tongue so easily.

I thought I answered a discussion by you about Westerns earlier. Am I losing it?
