Out goes the vacuum cleaner back comes the broom

Technology knocks on every one's door and it knocks at ours as well. We have so many gadgets and one among them was the vacuum cleaner. There was excitement when it first arrived. We used it for a while.
The assembling, cleaning the bag and dismantling each time was quite a hassle compared to the humble broom. We realised it took more time than a broom required.
The broom needed no special care unlike the vacuum cleaner It humbly stayed in the corner of the store room when not in use.
The broom made little noise unlike the roaring vacuum cleaner. Whenever there was load shedding the vacuum cleaner went out of commission
Decision was taken - out went the vacuum cleaner back came the broom

I have a vacuum for the carpeted areas. Mine is simple to run.

@allknowing Just 2 rooms, did get a robot sweeper for the rest and love it.

@allknowing I've just moved with lots of unpacking left to do. There is stuff everywhere so sweeping is being done but no vacuuming yet.

I don't have a vacuum cleaner. I just sweep the floor with a broom.

I do not like the work that we have to do before and after using the vacuum cleaner The broom is there ready and willing at any time, all the time - no fuss at all

Do you have areas where there is no carpet and that space must be cleaned using a broom. Right?

@allknowing Yes, the kitchen and the bathrooms have no carpets. I use the vacuum to clean the inside of the tower computers.

@allknowing yes that is true. It comes in handy, light weight and less noise. Plus it is less expensive.

Using a vacuum cleaner not on a daily basis is fine but for a daily chore I think a broom is ideal

Our vacuum cleaner is easy to operate but it has gone on the blink at the moment. I don't know if we can get it fixed or not. I like it for getting into corners which are difficult to sweep. It's also great for vacuuming the car and caravan.

May be nooks and corners but in general a broom does the job easily without any hassles. I have used both and any day prefer a broom. Anyway I do not use it but the maid does.
