More paying sites are shutting down...

I am a member of a number of sites run by Harlow McGaw Media (Daily Two Cents, PenStrokes, Writedge, Listofied, Trendzic, and others) where people were given an opportunity to post their writings and earn (through AdSense, Amazon Associates, or PPV). I just learned that all those sites are going to shut down at the end of the month. My earnings to-date were way too low so I can't say that I was successful on those sites, however, it is still downing and shocking that the sites will be no more. At least we were informed about this, so we know the end is coming. And it gives us time to copy our stuff, so it's not lost. As far as I know all the sites above, minus PenStrokes, allowed us to use AdSense, so those earnings are in our AdSense accounts. PenStrokes was PPV, so the site is supposed to pay us those. I am not sure on the details but I am assuming that those that have earnings on PenStrokes, that have not reached the minimum (like me), will probably not get paid. Not sure about those that have reached the minimum. Hopefully, they will get their earnings. Why is it that all these sites that seem great end up shutting down? Guess they are not bringing enough ad revenue to sustain themselves.

It does seem that very few sites are able to survive in the long term.

@lovebuglena I've no idea but I guess it's all to do with profits.

@JudyEv Probably. Either the site is not making enough to cover all the costs or they make enough to cover the costs but are not profiting as much as they want to and think it's not worth it anymore.

It is a shame that there are so many sites shutting down. I dropped out of a couple sites because they wouldn't deal with paypal.

You find a site that pays, you like it and hope you will be successful there, but then it doesn't turn out that way and the site even shuts down. That sucks!

That's sad if you really like the site.

I have not been active there in a while but still disappointing that the sites will be no more.

The main thing is that this can truly always happen anytime. So always back up your content.

Best thing to do is after publishing a post/article to right away paste it into Word. This way don't have to deal with having to copy a lot of stuff later... I didn't do that with HubPages and ended up with a lot of stuff to copy into Word. Very tedious task. Still am not done.

It's a pity that sites you like are shutting down. This is the only earning site I'm on.

I am also on HubPages and Virily. I have not made enough to cash out on Virily yet. Minimum there is $10 and being there for many months I have not yet reached that. Pathetic!
