Harlow McGraw Media Site Shutting Down

I remember the excitement I felt when I first found Writedge. It was a site created by fellow writers that seemed like the perfect place for writers to have a platform and to also make a little money. It was a great place for a while but for whatever reason, the site stopped making money, probably because the standards slipped and the owners didn't have time to invest in it anymore. At its peak, I had about 800 articles on the site. I have been slowly removing them and then the site stopped our ability to delete them. That was a bummer. Basically, our work was trapped on a site that earned us next to nothing. It is sad to see the site shutting down but they will close their doors at the end of August. The delete option has been reinstated so we can delete and deindex our articles. In addition to Writedge, Daily Two Cents was another of their sites. If you have written for them and want to save your content, you have 13 days to do so. I removed about 40 yesterday but I still have 180 just on Writedge, I think I will leave what I have on Daily Two Cents as they are mostly dated writing about events that won't have an audience now. This is the fourth or fifth site I have had to pull my content off of, Helium, Yahoo Voices, Examiner, Bubbews and now Writedge. This is exactly why I now have my own blogs, I am in control of them and I don't think Blogger is going to shut down any time soon. The day of content farms is definitely over, Google has changed their algorithm so many times that it makes earning money online as a writer more difficult.

My first writing site was Bubblews. When that closed I came to Mylot and haven't tried another so far.

These other sites were different from MyLot and Bubblews, they were not social and you didn't interact with the readers. But it led to some very lucrative client work.

I was disappointed to hear this news. But I also understand why the ladies had to do it. I know they had several sites but I only posted at Writedge and Daily Two Cents. To me those two were the best sites. The sites will be missed. I thought they were fun!

They were in their time, I have finally gotten all my posts off of the site, deleted and onto different ones of my blogs.

I was on bubblews and when I saw the signs of it going down, I removed all my content. I hope mylot is able to stay active. Not because of the money but because I love reading about everyone's day or interesting tidbits written about.

Yes I got most of the things that I wanted off of Bubblews, I have been through this way too many times.

That's a shame that another site has closed. I wrote on Helium but kept copies of everything and of course I was on Bubblews. I have a lot of articles on Infobarrel but haven't been active there for ages.

I think Infobarrel may be the next casualty, not much has been happening on there for a while. I was on Helium for 7 years, I was the channel manager for Travel. I loved that site and made some great friends that I am still in contact with.

@BelleStarr Luckily I've kept copies of everything I've ever written on any site so I'm not too worried about them closing. I still get money from there but only about once every six months.
