What A Lovely Man.......

Once quite some time back now we were awfully weary of having just got through the Tunnel you know that famous under the sea tunnel. I was not even given a chance to think about it under we went. Whoops forgot to mention that its the English Channel Tunnel a bit scary but still. Any way this is about a lovely Man who got us out of a right mess as we were over tired and strained from many hours of journey through Spain and France. We managed to get into London okay but it was finding a way out as the sign posts were not helpful at all and I wonder anyone can ever find their way out of there. When you are tired you lose your sense of direction a bit sometimes and this case it was so. I said to Jorge lets ask this man so okay we stopped the car and asked a man who just happened to be there. Okay you can laugh. I was fed up of hearing "after 500 metres take the next turn and turn right". I was cheered up a bit by listening to some Spanish music to wake up. This is London I am talking about here a real nightmare to get out of if you don´t know it even a bit well. He says to me in his wonderful Irish accent "alright darlin, lets see now, yers just take that road see the sign on the right there? Well yers just take that road and follow der other one through". Well I understood him well but Jorge kept nudging me and asking "what´s he say, what´s he say". So I had to stifle my giggles and listen this Irish man who had all the best intentions in the World. Jorge was not very convinced about all that and I said look we can only try once and so we did. Hooray for the Irish man what a lovely man we finally got ourselves onto the Motorway and Northern way bound.

glad you made it. i would have been so scared as i have claustrophobia and fear of water. we once walked through under the Hoover dam near Vegas here and i was terrified the whole time imagining tons of water flowing over top . i would have not survived without my hubby John there. he laughed at me.

@bunnybon7 Planes bug me and mucho. So I would rather travel by boat or train the latter being the best as you get to see stuff along the way without the hassle and the stress of the Airports.

I don't know if I would want to travel an undersea tunnel. I'm glad the man helped you get where you were going.

I had not time to think about it or say no we were in there before I could say anything. It was not as bad as what I thought it would be though thank goodness when we got to the other side.

@just4him Just one of those things that before you can say anything hey presto you are in it and can´t get out and after all it was the quickest way to get there.

I would call you a Darlin any day of the week as you are one. Its an expression from the Irish and we learned to say it from them in turn as we always had Irish people around us. Its an expression that can be of affection or just being polite yerm a right darlin you are that is how we say it where I come from. You are a darlin Fredo its the Irish in me coming out.

I've travelled thousands of kilometres in a day. I usually study the map and go over the directions until they are memorized. Tiredness does make it harder to navigate. The Irishman was very helpful...if hard to understand.

It was an emergency journey so we did not have time to get any proper maps just the thing that gives you directions to take and the maps were not up to date and are they ever? He was easy for me to understand as I know the accent very well. I loved the way he kept saying "Darlin" its just an expression of theirs.
