Wow! What a cute child is she! She is trying to help her mother at this tender age! Kids are like that only I don't see any parenting fail here! These are part and parcel of the growing process! Yes I appreciate your sense of humor and I sure your better half also have the same! Blessings to the young one! Thanks for sharing such a nice post!

A 1 year old. Hard job getting mad at a child that young. She is just exploring. Good reply!

No, you aren't a parenting failure. Your response was humorous. At the age your daughter is one of the things you will notice is that different textures, temperatures, and other experiences will fascinate her. She is busily learning about the world around her. She is at the age where she will be getting into things and it is the time where you need to make sure that the things that will harm her like cleaning chemicals, medications, sharp objects etc will be safely out of her reach and out of her grasp. I have watched many 1 year olds and they tend to mimic Mommy, which includes cleaning floors, scrubbing tables, making breakfast, and so much more. It's great that your daughter is active and keeps your wife busy. The other option is one that is sad and unthinkable. It would be a developmentally disabled daughter that does little or nothing. Now is the time to make sure that she has plenty of "learning" toys avaliable to her so she has a head start on what she needs to know for school. You might think that a 1 year old is too young to have learning toys, but it really does help them. Be proud of your daughter and that she was trying to copy Mommy by washing the bathroom floor. You're not a failure when it comes to parenting, neither is your wife. You're just not prepared for a super active highly intelligent individual who loves her parents so much and wants to be like them. (I did that to my mom too...and a lot more including emptying the contents of the toaster tray on the floor and pouring milk on it pretending it was cereal. Fortunately we had a dog who cleaned up most of the mess.

Thank you so much for such a positive response. Even though my query had a touch of humour to it, I love how much I've learnt by posting it here. Yes, she is such a sweet girl and never fails to impress with lovely things she does everyday. My wife has taken more than a year off work and never regrets it!

@pitstop If we take the time to watch all of God's creatures, both human and animal, we will always learn from them. Even babies will teach us if we are open to realizing that they too can teach us. Enjoy your little one and love her will all your heart and soul. She will never cease to amaze you and will never let you down if you give her the opportunity to be herself.
My Mom was open to learning from me, and was never sorry that she kept herself open to learning from me. Even as she grew older she kept learning from me and we had a wonderful friendship as well as a "mother daughter" relationship. I hope that things will grow that way for all of you! Love your baby tons and tons, and give her a bunch of hugs from me!!!!
