I Had A Pressing Appointment

That is a nice way to say that I went for my bi-annual mammogram this afternoon. I have to admit that I dread this exam more than any other even a colonoscopy. Let's face it, you know what is coming and it is going to hurt. The place that I go has the new digital imaging but the way they get the image has not changed. I did have a nice technician and she was as gentle as she could be but there is only so much that she can do, at the end of the day, they need to press the living daylights out of our breasts. I did ask my doctor about some of the other methods but I guess they are only used for certain things and 10 to 1, Medicare won't cover it. The good news is, it is over and now I have a two-year reprieve. Other than that, it has been a quiet day, the weather has cooled off considerably and I decided to make a quick run to the grocery store on the way home. I did get out for less than $100 which is a Labor Day Miracle. lol The photo is the brownstone quarry in my town which they have turned into a discovery park.

yes that's one of those things you just get over with. Actually I'm overdue for it, so I shouldn't say that heh heh. Our weather has been good this week too. Supposed to be warmer over the weekend, but 90 instead of 100 so it's not too bad.

All that pressing and good news at the end. The relief I feel would make me forget the initial discomfort.

Those exams are a pain no matter what. I am scheduled to have one done and a colonoscopy too. Maybe I will have them both done in one day so that I will only have one miserable day instead of two.

@BelleStarr That does make sense. I do believe that I will change my mind.

lol While that is tempting I think the colonoscopy is a bit draining due to the prep and I might not want to do the other at the same time.

I am due for mine this year also, but not until November. I'm glad that you're enjoying cooler weather, ours was short-lived and is heating back up already. I believe that the high tomorrow will feel like 40C, which is 104 F. Isn't that crazy? And it won't be a pleasant day as the humidity will be high. Thank goodness for a/c.

@Juliaacv Most schools here don't have AC, Jack's school has aftercare, most of them do so the parents just have to pay for the care.

For some reason, over here they stop giving mammograms after you're 70. I suppose they think you're going to die soon anyway, so why bother

I still have to go for mine but although it's uncomfortable I can't say it's painful. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

That is a miracle no matter what day it is when you can go to the grocery store and come out with less than a $100. I know I'll be going soon and will be thankful if it doesn't go too much over that. I hate that exam too, but I have to say I hate the other even worse. My doctor brought up that one, but since I've had three of those in the last couple years, I don't need one for a while now. I do need to be squeezed though.

A scary time from what I have heard. I have avoided this so far. If it is time for me to go, I will go. (I read some articles which believed that that machine seemed to have caused more cancer to people who shouldn't have it in the first place. I don't know the truth, but I opt for not coming close to it.)

I agree that the digital imaging is just like the old way, but better safe than sorry. I had mine when we returned from Florida and the woman who did it was around my age and very sympathetic. . Nice park you have there!

I will say the technician was very pleasant we laughed and talked and it did take my mind off it a little. I got my call that it's all clear so it is worth it.
