We have some friends who are (hopefully) on their way to our house for the weekend. The guy has been a friend of ours for over forty years. When all our kids were little, we'd gather at each other's homes to cook, play music, and just have fun. We're still long-distance friends with his ex-wife. We've only known his present wife for a few years, but we think the world of her. We've spent the weekend at their home at times (about three hours away from here.) I can't remember, but I think I may have written here that our friend has recently been diagnosed with late stage prostate cancer. It's already spread to his bones and lymph nodes. He's on chemo pills and other drugs, but no radiation or regular chemo. I'm so surprised when we talk to him that so far, he doesn't have a lot of pain and is in very good spirits. I know that those of you who are Christians will understand that our biggest concern is the state of his soul. We pray God will heal him and I know He still does miracles. And our friend is a good man, but he's never wanted anything to do with God. We talk to him, try not to "preach" at him, but time is short and this is too important to ignore. I know myLotters have several different religious beliefs and some none at all, but for those of you who do share our Christian belief, please pray for our friend that someone, somehow will reach his heart. I know the "Hound of Heaven" will honor all our prayers. But God can't make someone accept Him. We're looking forward to going out tonight for supper at our favorite restaurant, Deadwood. It's a really cool western themed local place with great steaks and sweet potato waffle fries. I better get a few more things done before they get here. Hope you guys have a wonderful and blessed weekend!

I know many people who do not believe, I do mention God from time to tome but not preaching. Some stop believing once they had to go to war.

@andriaperry That's exactly what he needs: that peace from God that passes all understanding.

Thanks, it's bedtime now and we did enjoy a great meal. Decided on a different steak house, though.

I will definitely pray for him. I know how important it is. And God does perform miracles, so why not him?

As a believer it is easier for me to see others believe too. I know that everyone shows their faith differently, and for some it is a very private emotion. I hope that you have a good visit, maybe you'll have a good effect on his heart, which may lead to his soul.

I sure hope you're right. God just needs to somehow get through to him how important this is.

I'm glad your friend is in good spirits despite his problems. It sounds like you're going to have a fun weekend, I hope so anyway. Steaks, yummy! As for the God part, your friend probably thinks (knows) his soul is not your worry. Everyone has their own needs and beliefs, and we just have to accept that in the end.

I really do believe his soul is my worry. We can't make him see his need for a relationship with God, but I won't give up on him.
