I promised my readers an update on my friend with ALS. She left this earth just around 11:30 am Eastern time. Our loss is heaven's gain. It was a long fight and she was valiant to the end. Her husband and young son now walk alone because nothing we can do will make it better. The green scarf is still missing. I don't know where it went or how it disappeared. It is one of those mysteries to never be solved.

@1creekgirl She was the type of person who often helped others. She wanted them to find a cure for this and it is too late for her.

@Jessabuma They will be okay. The illness was a big burden. Soon it will be behind them. I am glad he has the child to keep him focused and on track.

Thank you. The hard part is learning to live with a new reality, that she is gone and not coming back.

Life is iffy at best. You never know if you will catch a stray bullet or a terrorist will mow you down. Be grateful for every moment and for those precious to you. I think ALS is a terrible way to go.

@cintol He took a lot of time off. This saga went on for years. They traveled to Boston and other places for research purposes and visiting. They went on a lot of day trips. He tried to make her life as pleasant as possible. The last year or so, he had trouble with aides not showing up, so he had to stay home and take care of her himself.

Ah, thanks for that. I hope the husband and son will be okay. He lost his job from taking too much time off. The memorial service is Wednesday and I hope it spells a new beginning for them.

@akalinus I don't think they can fire someone for taking too much time off if its a family issue like that. He should look into that, they did that to my daughter when she had her baby and she got her job back. Of course, she declined the job at that point because she knew they would treat her differently. I wish the best for them, when one door closes a better one will open.

Thank you. I am feeling better today. My son finally came home and we went shopping. I have been upset for the past week and felt like a train wreck.
