Alastair Cook, captain of English team for a good time, and an opening batsman who went on to become the highest run getter for England in Test match cricket, with 12000+ runs at nearly an average of 45, with 32 centuries and 57 50s is going to retire after the ongoing final test with India at Oval, London. Interestingly he played his first match also against India at Nagpur in 2006. He made 3 centuries against India in India in 2012 and was both Man of the match and series, playing a major role in the surprise English win then. Otherwise too, he was often the nemesis of Indian and Ausie bowlers in test matches. He also played some good innings in ODIs, but his test contributions were marvelous, both as a player and as a captain. Also, as I write this, I can read a headline saying that he has scored 50+ in the current match(his last vs India). In fact, a legendary player!
