Back to school is cutting in on my book reading time. Why do they have homework already? It's only day three...so not ready for this.

We don't agree with homework. The children are gone all day and the time they are home they should be with family, doing something perhaps the parents choose to do.

In my household, they spend hours doing homework--2-4 hours. I have three a 17yr old, which I don't get involve in, my 12 yr old, who I have to check everything because she really doesn't care as long as it's done, and my 8 yr old, who I have to help with her homework most of the time. You are right, there is not enought time to spend with the family after dinner, homwork, and shower--not necessarily in that order.

The homework I assign is relatively easy and quickly finished.

Why shouldn't they have homework? If they are back in school, homework already makes sense.

Yes, even here, schools have lots of homeworks as well projects for students. Specially for the primary and secondary grades, the projects are usually done by the parents.

Feel glad they didn't have homework until day three. My students had homework on Day One and every day since except Fridays. School rule, no homework on Fridays.
