Does this soup look thick enough to you?

I wrote earlier this morning about having to cook pumpkin soup today. We need five quarts of it.
It is done now and we can stand a wooden spoon in it it’s so thick. We can even lean the spoon over and it stays where we put it. Vince will probably add some cream to it tomorrow when he takes it to the golf club.
I’ve mostly caught up here so I guess I have no excuse now. I’ll have to go and wash some floors. Oh well, them’s the breaks. See you in a bit.

@allen0187 Vince was taking it to the golf club for a special competition they were having. Veteran golfers were coming from all over the state to play golf and the soup was to help feed them.

From your description with that spoon thing staying that way it sure seems a thick soup but not that I would want to have it as thick soups is not my choice Sweet corn and chicken soup stays in between and that is my favourite soup. (lol)

@JudyEv I love the sweet corn and crab soup as well but we do not get crabs that often. I any day prefer to make these soups at home

@allknowing I used to get the crab meat and corn but a couple of times I got a tiny bit of shell in the soup and it put me off a bit.

It almost looks like tomato soup due to the color.
Question for you....if Australia uses the metric system, how come you are measuring in quarts?

@JudyEv I don't understand why the US hasn't switched over to the metric system, as that is what they teach in school. So, you learn the metric system in school, but everything in the real world is still measured in the old English system (or standard system, or whatever it is called). With the exception of converting temperature, I pretty much know all the other measurements used.

@moffittjc I didn't know they taught the metric in school. Most Americans on here don't seem to have a good grasp of the metric system.

Maybe it was litres but they are all old farts there so perhaps it was quarts. We switched to metric soon after I left school so I have a good grasp of the old measurements but thee are still some things that I struggle with. If they are broadcasting that someone x.? metres is missing, I have no idea how high they are - stuff like that.

I can eat a lot of soup too if it's nice. They charge a lot for it in the cafes and restaurants here.

Have you ever had pumpkin soup? I think pumpkin pie is more popular there.

Yes I would think the soup is thick enough if the spoon can stand in it
