Regular old cornbread is very and I mean very easy to make. I've made cornbread for years. Its just basic follow the recipe and get the oven at the right temperature and keep an eye out on whether its done- if you have a toothpick in to test it, you can do that, to see if the middle is still gooey. (I use the tines of a fork cause I'm not fancy.) So.... you're just mixing flour with cornmeal and rising- baking powder- a little salt, a little sugar though some folks want cornbread so sweet its really cake. An egg, some milk, some shortening or oil. Easy and not a huge deal. Good luck!

@ricki_911 There was a butter spread? Some folks melt butter and honey together as a spread for pancakes or cornbread.

I just get the jiffy mix. There are so many other pre-made mixes that offer different flavorings. As I usually only make it with certain soups and with beans, I leave it plain.

@ricki_911 You can put cream corn in it to make it a little more moist. I think others put chili powder and similar seasoning in it to give it a kick.

Premixes are available in boxes though of course it would be great to make them from scratch. The recipe should be easy as corn bread is a popular staple in many places. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
