The Best Decision I Ever Made

This one place had me so stressed out today my blood pressure was way to high for me, so I made a huge decision. I plan to explain. I have been using the clinics pharmacy for 10 years, only because I can get my hormones $50 cheaper, Tony used them before he had insurance and kept them since he bought insurance. Once I had to change his to Publix due to the hours, the clinic does not stay open after 5 pm. Many don`t know but when a new drug comes out and the doctor prescribes it sometimes the insurance won`t pay for it, they will ask the doctor to give a less expensive medication. At the pharmacy they call it a PA. Those who do not know,Tony he has stage 4 lung cancer, in remission and he has out lived the prediction of 2 years. This one mediation is the only one that works so he can breathe. The doc still wants him on it and has kept him in samples till insurance will pay, I told him all the ways I have tried to get it free or reduced so he can buy it. When we left the appointment last Tuesday the doc told his assistant look for a PA to come in for Tony. I called and asked for his medication today, the inhaler was ready but the other medication needed the PA and I told her o fax it to the doc, she told me NO I would have to take it to the doctor because of hippa law and the crap began. That would mean a 150 mile round trip for me. I called the doctor, left a message and his assistant told me that is the pharmacy`s job not mine. I called someone I know in the clinic that is her superior and asked for help, I left a message letting him know they will not fax it like the doctor expects. I had to get his inhaler no matter what, so I run errands all the way till I get to the pharmacy, now its around 3:30 pm. When its my turn, I get the being "Told off" hen she hands me a paper and told me I need this to go to the doctor. SHE don`t know about me! I told her she is breaking the hippa law by giving me HIS information, a woman I had never seen runs from the back and yells me I am not getting his meds either. I smile and point to the lobby and said "he is sitting right there." BUT when I looked and they did, Tony was already telling the boss over the place. I walked out and told both of them I was just smarted up and he needs to go in and get his meds. The screaming employee comes out and tries to give him the paper but he wont take it an I tell her its her job not ours. So to make his a wee shorter, the boss said she will fix the problem, but when she seen Tony waiting to get his inhaler at the counter, she got smart with us and old us to get out! wait in the lobby like I told you.Well, I am not a child, nor her employee to verbally abuse. We walked right out the front door, went straight to Publix and had every single prescription transferred. Yes I will have to pay $50 more for mine, but I will not have to fight with the "educated staff" nor do their job. Best thing I have done this year! BUT wait! The guy I called earlier for help had already did their job and put in the PA request, those people were to stupid to even look at the computer, instead they wanted to "put me" in my place. Losing customers is not a good thing, especially because they do not know how to do their job. People do not understand they can walk away to be happier, sure it costs money but now maybe my BP will go back down. I hope your evening was better than mine.

Oh gosh such ignorant and arrogant to deal with. Glad you switched. Yes no one has to put up with that utter nonsense to get life saving medicine. Sorry this happened Angie.

@andriaperry Yes, because it is a higher price you have to pay. Something should be done about those rude people.

Mine was better. But a little extra money is worth not having all of the stress. Hope your pressure is back down now.

@andriaperry Glad that it feels lower. That is too high but not overly bad for being mad. Exercise, fear and anger are all things that can raise it for a little bit.

I won't put up with that kind of BS from people and will happily take my business elsewhere too.

Like I told Tony, its worth $50 to get away from all that, I told him I am not poor and I don`t have to take it.

Sounds like a bunch of employee's on a power trip. If it's a chain like Publix I would complain to their corporate headquarters. The nerve of some people and in a customer service business, geesh? You don't want to give your business to an incompetent group like that. You definitely did the right thing there!

The big picture over all is probably worth more than the $50. I am sorry you have to be put in such a place, though.

Some days..... Glad you got it worked out. The extra $50 for hormones is probably a small price to pay.

Today I went to file a complaint and found out I was told on BUT the boss man has known me and Tony for years and years, before he was a boss, so he knew better, she even tried to put the "race" card but he knows better cause he is black and we have always treated him just like anyone else. He told us he knew something was not told because he knows us and had it planned to call Monday. I am gonna write about it.
