Controlling people

I know someone that is like a family member, but he is very controlling. I do not know how to handle his obsessive behavior anymore. He has had a bad past, so I try to empathize with it. Whatever I do never seems to be enough. I have been trying to be compassionate, as well as doing the tough love act with him. Most of the time it does not work. Hee is alright when things go his way, but otherwise too stressful to mention.

I wouldn't put up with that. Not from anyone.

I am setting some boundaries, and if he doesn't like them so be it. Not going to be controlled anymore.

Talk to him, every person who wants is able to change to be next to his love.

Thank you, and I have talked nice to him, and he still wants things his way. The situation is all about him. I try to understand his feelings, but he has a controlling personality.

@LaJenna So if the situation is serious, better send it to a psychologist and if you do not improve you make the effort and leave it.

Empathy has gotten nowhere. It's his way or the highway, isn't it? Why keep people like that in your life when they offer nothing of value to you?

Yuk, it seems that way, his way or the highway, but I am going to try to talk to him.

I would just tell him that he can not control you and do not let him..

Thank you, Judy, and I made up my mind he is not going to control me anymore. Compassion I have learned is a good thing, but to have someone totally control you is not.
