Fasting begins in a few hours...

I am observing Yom Kippur and that means fasting. My last meal will be no later than 6 pm today. After that, I will not eat or drink anything until about 7 pm tomorrow.
Depending on what time I actually eat today I will be fasting for at least 24 hours. I have been doing it for many years now. And I never once felt sick not eating that long.
Maybe it's a good idea to fast more than just once a year. It cannot be bad for the body.
I've heard there are people who fast for way more than just a day. Some even fast for weeks. But I'd bet they drink water. A person can't last for weeks without water.

I've never done a fast without water. I know fasting is good for the body, and according to custom in the Jewish religion, of which I take it you are, I understand the people fasted twice a week.

@lovebuglena Jewish culture has several feast days and I believe three of them have fasting involved with them.

@just4him You'd think I know about this, me being Jewish and all. But I am not that religious. My husband probably knows more than me because he went to Yeshiva.

The only fasting I know is on Yom Kippur. But I am sure there are other times probably where people need to fast.
