Well, I have finally finished the book in it's entirety. I noted before that the beginning was a bit confusing. I'm not so much retracting that remark as I am expanding on it. It is a bit confusing, but the writer's purpose for that bit was so that the reader understood the relationship between two characters was, atleast at first, tumultuous. The fact is that the author used their names so often within the first few paragraphs that it had my head spinning. Anyway, this discussion is already proving to be long, so I'll leave this as short as possible. The book features an entire community of people who are struggling with the aftermath and circumstances surrounding, the death of a young boy. The author has several different books that continue the series, and I will be purchasing them when I can find them for a decent price. I recommend the book to anyone who likes a good mystery, who also enjoys a bit of historical fiction, and who enjoys books that turn into a series. I will say, however, that this might be somewhat difficult for those whose first language isn't english. There are a lot of Scots English slang words used within. Even I was like "Huh?" at first until I read it again and the meaning of the word was inferred.
