Going to do my gym's 21 day detox

I did it last August and lost 8 pounds. . . and that was with cheating on the last week. I think it will be good to "reset" and to lose some weight before we go to Mexico on vacation. The workouts will continue as normal (3-4 per week) and the detox diet is very similar to Whole 30 but with a couple of modifications--you are allowed brown rice and quinoa. He encourages tea too. I think caffeine is a no-no on Whole 30. They charge $79 or $89 for the detox but he announced today on the member Facebook page that we can get it for free if we tagged 5 non-members on the main gym's Facebook post about the program. That was a no-brainer for me. Done! The interest meeting is Sept 27 and then the program starts Oct 1st. "Before" pictures and weigh-ins will be somewhere in between those dates. I already know what it is all about and he doesn't have to convince me to do it, but I think I still have to go to the interest meeting. That's fine. I'll just do a workout right before it so I'll already be there. The first 3 days are the hardest part because he recommends no animal protein. That means that you are basically vegan because there's no dairy on the detox so you can't have yogurt, cheese, etc. The manual says you can really "go for it" and do the whole 1st week without animal protein. 3 days was more than enough for me. Once you get past that, though, then it is easy. I'm looking forward to it.

It would be cake for you since you did Whole30 for so long. To shock YOUR system you'd need something different entirely.

@NJChicaa Which is what I'm doing with Paleo. Can you believe I haven't had a regular potato since August 18? I do eat sweet potatoes at least twice a week.

@just4him I thought paleo was pretty similar to Whole30? I like sweet potatoes. My husband doesn't so when I do baked potatoes I have a sweet potato and I make a regular white one for him. I do make mashed white potatoes sometimes for both of us. Obviously I won't do that on the detox, though. I'll make mashed cauliflower then.
