this will be a kind of a long post...
My friend and I celebrate our birthday on September. We are in this organization called Singles for Christ and she had this idea to feed the kids snacks to give back to the community. I was okay with it since it is a nice thought.
She told the leaders about it and got the number of people we need to feed and it was 100 - quite a lot.
So i asked suggestions from other members on the cheap way to make this happen and we came up with bread rolls.
Now my friend asked me yesterday if we will still push through with it. And i was like... "of course, we already told the leaders about it." And she was talking about how expensive it was, can't we find a cheaper alternative. (Since i told her to give me $20~ 1000 pesos since i will buy the stuff we need. I did say i would return the excess.)
Anyways... the point is, i am just so disappointed that she is having second thoughts now when she was the one who wanted to do it... and i am the one who is actually trying to make it happen.
It is just annoying that she is willing to spend a lot on buffets but she is not even willing to help in this feeding which may only happen just this once.

That is quite an upsetting scenario. She should have not broadcasted it yet until the plan was polish and final. You can always have less than 100 kids. I am pretty sure if you tell your leaders than you have budget constraints, I am pretty sure they will understand you or some might even help you finance it.

If she wouldn't give her share, it seems you're going to shoulder the whole responsibility. There are just people that are very eager at first or during plans but when it's time to carry the plan they had the second thoughts or even back out for it.

Any changes in the last moment really upsets. It is such a noble way to celebrate birthdays and she should not have a second thought about it.

@arunima25 right now she will still ask her sister in law if she also wanted to contribute. I'll ask her again next week

I am sorry you are being stuck with all of the preparations, but God sees that and will bless you for it. I wouldn't count on her anymore for anything, but what matters now is that you follow through with it. Your heart is a living one, and you are thinking beyond yourself.

I hope the children donĀ“t know it yet and you can still change your ideas. But whatever you do, I would not include her in it unless she gave you the money to do it first.

Those kids that you were planning to feed must be poor. I had my milestone birthday at an Institute where I entertained about 100 kids. It gave me more happiness than entertaining my family and friends

@lady1993 This will be my twelfth such event that I have organised for poor kids and even seniors from an old age home. The joy is incomparable
Good luck

it was her idea but it sounds more like a passing fancy. you thought she was serious about it, yet you're the one doing the work.

This is something she should have thought about before she even brought it up to you. It seems like she is trying to push it off on you. I don't know her, but maybe with the buffets, a lot of people saw what she was doing, and she liked that.

If I were in your place, I would be disappointed too. Why commit to something that you can't pursue wholeheartedly.
