He Is Not What He Looks

Have you ever met a person for the first time and you had a bad impression of him?
Well, the other night, I had.
The driver of the jeepney I was riding wasn’t at all smiling. He looks fiercely. He would just ask up to where the fare given to him by a passenger and give the change.
Then, a physically challenged man hailed his jeepney. And when he approached the jeepney, the driver politely asked those near the door to move inside so the disabled man could seat there so it would be easy for him to come up and alight.
Actually, here in the Philippines, those seat by the door of the jeepney are for elderlies and physically challenged persons.
He asked him where he will be alighting and when we reached the place he stopped and refused the payment to the delight of the man. He thanked him profusely.
And that was the time when I saw a smile on his face- he was so happy and said welcome.
I was wrong in what I thought him to be. I apologized to him, in my mind though and asked forgiveness from God.
Have you ever experienced judging someone on first glance?

Yes, we will not be able to know the real persona of the person, until you get to know some facts about him.
It's inevitable sometimes, when we meet a person for the person and he appears stern and strict.
My officemate says I look strict, though when I smile , that stricness is gone.

They say that first impression is the last one. But actually you need to know a person to have the last impression. Human being has many layers and is a complicated creature.

@SIMPLYD My husband says that I have many layers and even after so many years of marriage, he is still sorting it out. I love that.

I think by human nature we tend to judge. Even in the positive perspective.

A long time ago I learnt not to judge people by a first sight. This man had probably some problems that occupied his mind and this is the reason why he did not smile and not all men smile all the time. My husband is a very kind man, but he almost never smiles.

This is a beautiful story. I don´t recall one such experience by me though. God bless that man.

@SIMPLYD We should all be more helpful with disabled people. They have enough problems as it to to have to deal with rude people also.

external looks sometimes are deceiving. since i look so strict, many of the 2nd years students are scared of me. i often tell them i am strict, but after they have their duty under my supervision, they change their first impression as me to be their mother.

Same with me. I am also strict, but when they get to know me, they say that I am not that strict.
Even our mall manager, she told me that before she accepted the position, she was told that in our company, the officers will eat her alive. I for one, she was told that I am maldita.
She told us that, after having interacted with us for a month. It was after all not true.

We are human so if we do not like someone at first we can always change our minds later. Our seats behind the driver and the other front row ones are for the elderly, sick and soldiers. That was so nice what he did and I was glad to see that he was a nice person afterall. Sometimes I have stuck to my first impression of not like someone I first met and still not liking them afterwards too.

Yes, that is true. We can always change our mind later when from further interaction with that person with whom we have a bad imression, it turns out that he is a good person afer all. .
Just like you, sometimes my first impression is also my impression and not like them still afterwards.

Thank you for telling me that I am a good person. That means a lot. You are a good person too. Yes, we can change our feeling about someone if we just met them and did not like them but learned to like them later or still did not like them later also.

Wow, really. Drivers are hardworkingmen. He must be so proud of himself for producing children who are now professionals.

Yes, it happens sometimes. We easily judge other people by the way they look. But I think it is because of previous experiences and also the environment. It is hard to trust other people now but there are still people out there who are kind and have a good heart.

I agree.
Maybe because we have some bad experience with people who are looking gruff so we judge tend to judge a person on the negative when we meet and deal with them for the first time. It's just being cautious of trusting a person we meet for the first time.
