And so musical philosophy class is closed for this semester. I've saved the best for last in this look of song lyrics that have a profound meaning, at least to me. This final entry I think will get everyone's head to nodding in agreement. Here's the most accurate lyric ever written, in my opinion. #1: Things Get Complicated When You Get Past 18 Everyone over 18's nodding in agreement. I can see you. This line, from the Statler Brothers' "The Class of '57," is prefaced by another good line of wisdom: "Living life day to day is never like it seems." Ah, to be 15 again...."I can't wait to get out on my own, where I don't have to listen to your stupid rules!" Yeah, right. That's an interesting thing about being an adult, isn't it: adults make "adulting" look so dang easy to kids. Then that first car insurance bill comes due, or the rent is increased to $10 more than you make in a month. You spend more time in the repair shop than on the road with the car. Two jobs aren't making ends meet. Then suddenly, it's a yearning for childhood and the free, innocent fun that accompanied it...that somehow we couldn't wait to emancipate ourselves from. Thankfully, most of us learn to adjust to the complications, and eventually do so with such aplomb that the next generation thinks it's a snap and they can't wait. You've heard of the generation gap? That's the generation trap. Thanks for reading. Things Get Complicated When You Get Past 18 From "The Class of '57" Written by Harold Reid and Don Reid Recorded by the Statler Brothers From Country Music Then and Now, 1972 The class of all of us is just part of history:
As seen on the Pop Goes The Country show.

I did not see the Statlers coming. Reginald Dwight has revoked your fan club card.

It’s not the singer as much as the line.
