I'm Back and Life Goes On

Hi everyone, thank you all so much for all your wishes, they helped a lot getting me through this difficult time. The funeral was on Friday and the service was beautiful, my dear friend Father Joe was the main celebrant and he knew my mother well so his sermon was very personal. We spent some quality family time with my brothers, niece and nephews and cousins, friends and of course my grandchildren and children. Friday night three grandsons came over with my daughter and we did game night. Saturday we had dinner at my nephew's house with one of my brothers. (the other brother had already gone home). This morning I had to contact the pension company to discontinue my mom's pension. Now I just have to wait for the checks to clear in my mom's checking account and then I can close it out and I think that will complete everything I need to do. After all the emotions clear it is time to do the things that need to be done. I have been my mom's POA for a very long time and now that part of my life is over. The nursing home called me to see if I wanted her wheelchair which I told them no, to donate it to someone who needs it. Again thank you all for being great friends, it does warm my heart.

There is nothing better than friends and family to get you through tough times such as this. Tying up the loose ends should help bring closure and give you time to grieve. We are here for you and again, my heartfelt sympathy.

I hope you can complete everything in a shorter time I did. I receive the money from my Mom's bank the 14th of August... more than 8 months of waiting.

It will be short since I had to sell her home 6 years ago, I have only a small amount of money left and I will pay the last bills and then donate the remainder to the church, no inheritance.

@BelleStarr We had to go through plenty of bureaucratic papers, my mom left a big apartment in the center of Milan and a bank account with her savings and investments.

I think it will be all wrapped up in just a couple of weeks, there isn't really an estate since we had to sell her house 6 years ago.

Being surrounded by family and friends certainly helps during such tough times. I dont' think I'd have made it when my mom passed if I didn't have loving people to help

Thank you, yes it is a rather strange feeling after 68 years of having my mother always close to now have her gone. I believe she is in a better place but the best place was near to me.

Glad to hear you are doing well as you work through all the stages of the grieving process after losing your Mother. Glad that you were there when she passed and that the timing of her going was not in the heart of winter when you are here in Florida.

We had preplanned a lot of the things so actually I should be able to wrap it up quite quickly, we sold her house six years ago and there is not much of anything left.
