I learned something I didn't know the other day

There is an animal that I learned about for the first time the other day. It is the "Vicuna" and it is related to the Llama (but smaller) and it lives in Peru. It's fur is the rarest fur on Earth. Back in time during the Inca Empire, the Vicuna was plentiful in number. But, then they started getting hunted and their number dwindled real low. They almost got extinct until there was an effort to keep them from dying out. It became illegal to hunt them. Now, they have multiplied and a good number of them are around. The natives are helping with the shearing of the fur and the selling of the fur which is helping the native communities thrive.
The once-endangered vicuna is thriving in the Peruvian Andes, thanks to a bold plan to sustainably gather and sell its valuable fleece – and give locals a stake in its survival.

I did know about the vicuna. It's good that its numbers are increasing and great that the local communities are benefitting from its fleeces. Thanks for the link too.

I have never heard of this animal before. That's awesome the population of them is increasing and really cool that the native communities are thriving better from the sale of their fur.
