I’m Buying Generic MEDICINES

Yes, I’m buying generics medicines for my hypertension. They are cheaper and it works for me and I’m not seeing a problem with that. Buying branded medicines can be costly. There were times as well that I would be buying them with my other prescription as long as there is equivalent especially if multiple prescriptions were given and at high cost. It can hurt and I need to fit it my budget. Do you buy generic medicines or you always go for the branded?

I have a mix of both. I plan on moving to generic, I would be lucky if it would be effective on me.

My sister's always go on branded. She believes that it's more potent than the generic which I'm not sure of.

@ZedSmart They have a term here I don't know the exact English translation. "Hiyangan". I have tried some generic medicines before and it worked just fine for me.

@yoalldudes I'm not sure if its "suitable". But yes, sort like that. I don't have problems also with generic and I would really ask if there's generic. As the commercial jingle. You know what I mean?

My husband also buys generic meds for his hypertension. In fact, he likes it more that the one given to him by a friend from DOH. That one seem not to work for him. He still could feel some uneasy feeling taking those.

Medicines, although of the same component, might not applicable to everyone as our body would not welcome it the same way. My question though.

yes, some of my mother's doctors prefer the branded i remember an officemate who said in their family, they get hypertension as early as their 30s. it's good that you have loyalty cards. i have one from mercury. i also love mercury's calendar.

When it comes to medicine, I prefer to buy branded ones as I am not ready to take risks with my health.

Are there really a difference? Doctors won't object if I say is it OK to buy generics.

@nomus24g It's not a problem though. If you can afford then why not. It's for own good and one must get none the less.

I've been using generic paracetamol for 8 years now and it has the same effect as the branded ones.

It's good to hear that it suits for your needs. I'm into generic too because its very affordable and if it has the same effect and potency, then why spend more with branded.

I always buy generic medicines because aside from they are a lot cheaper than the branded ones, it works for me as well. How old are you? I'm Hypertensive and I have my maintenance. I have 10 mg of Amlodipine, one from the morning and 1 for the evening.

@ZedSmart What is your highest BP if you still remember. I was with expensive combo medicines for my Hypertensive before, and that's one of the reasons why my kidneys are not working anymore. What is the main reason why you are Hypertensive because mine is from my kidney.

@JustBhem The usual highest is 180/110 mmHg. But I think one time there was this 180/130mmHg. I thought I was going to the hospital that night. I took Captopril sublingual good thing it works.

I started having a hypertension at age 28. Metropolol (Neobloc) 50mg was the first medicine given to me. Later on, it did now work so it changed to Losartan 100mg at morning and Amlodipine 5 at night. We're a family of hypertensive. It can be avoided perhaps with lifestyle modification but I don't think it isl reverse. I was also given Clopidogrel to be taken after lunch but I stopped it. My other doctor told me that it's not necessary to have a maintenance because I'm still young and my veins would adjust on the blood flow but I still have my intake regularly. My lab tests are normal. I don't know why's like that.

You are right. Especially if we already have maintenance medicines.
