At one point I thought why would a child have a cellphone? etc but now I realize it's better to have your child at home with all the electronics then be outside where it is dangerous. This boy was only 16 years old and got killed because he was mistaken by someone else . All he did was go to the corner store. This world is just not safe anymore. Keep your kids home and give them video games etc. Its just sad news hearing teens losing their lives

It's always been dangerous, I think. Just has gotten a whole lot worse over the last 10 years. But that's no reason to keep kids using phones and such. They need to be outdoors and enjoy a real childhood.

I wish this generation could be more better but they all seem to grow up too fast.

I still oppose the thought that children should have mobile phones and play endlessly at home with it. I still encourage children playing outside the yard of course.

Maybe to teach the kids how to use the technology effectively. The parents should guide their kids but it does not mean they have to be home bound. To take the gadget away from them, what I do is we go outdoors to see that there is life without gadgets.

It is good to have videogames since the child can learn skills to assist them in the future when they become adults. Cellphones are great to use in an emergency.

When you say a child, to me it depends on what age a child is. To me, I just don't see what in the world say a 4 or 5 year old really needs a phone for.

We cannot close our eyes to the new technologies or to the violence of the world. But we must teach our children to use those gadgets wisely.

No one can tell when bad things are going to happen. If someone is that scared to go outside, it is going to damage them and they will never get to have fun. Teaching happiness and having experiences kills evil in the world, that is why we still go to movies and concerts and do other stuff because we cannot let fear win. Yes, bad things do happen, but kids cannot be completely sheltered or else they do become those dangers you worry about.
