Happy Birthday To Me

"Today is my birthday and I am going to have a huge party and celebrate." That's what comes on our mind when it's our birthday. Well the other day I attended a birthday party and an old lady said something that was so deep and true.
It was the 18th birthday of a friend?
Everyone was singing happy birthday and wishing him when suddenly a voice said:- "Why are you all wishing him Happy Birthday? He is only getting nearer to death."
Everyone puzzled and no one said anything. I had a feeling I've heard this before but not sure and never thought about it.
It made me realised indeed we are getting older and so is our death. But that doesn't mean we stop living and enjoying our because we will die. Everybody dies but we sure can enjoy our live before dying.
P.S This is only a discussion it's not my BIRTHDAY.

That was a brutal truth uttered by the lady but in a very inappropriate way and on a wrong place. Birthdays are to be celebrated and too feel happy that we survived one year successfully and we have many more years to look forward to.

@arunima25 I don't blame her maybe she is depressed inside or maybe something bothers her. But I didn't like the way she tried to ruin the party with her one sentence.

Although it was bad that she said that, I guess in a way she is right! I think it's funny myself, I'm sitting here thinking that sounds like something that my stick in the mud sister-in-law would say! lol

Indeed. The birthday boy felt sad and akward. He was looking depressed We had to cheered him up and distract him and keep the party on.

No matter what birthdays are good reasons for celebrating because they are celebrating the moment we arrived here and it is a happy moment that we are still here. In the Latvian tradition, people get to celebrate themselves twice a year. The Latvian calendar has each day with several names written on it. This means that if your name say, come on June 20 like mine then it is my Name's Day and I can celebrate it just like my birthday.
