A few lucky things the last few days

Thursday my daughter brought home a simulated baby for Family and Consumer Science class. From 4pm until 10pm it cried more then 14 times and in at one point she had to hold the bottle there for 40 minutes. It was awful and my daughter was so stressed because she was trying to get her homework done as well. Luckily it only woke her up twice during the night. The first lucky thing was last week in Spanish class she got the highest grade on a test and got to pick from a prize box. She chose the doll pen in the photo. Then this past Thursday she got the highest grade again and picked the worry dolls you see in the photo. Friday my son had Halloween decorations which are carboard and stack inside each other. He kept rearranging them and asking me how many were in it each time. I guess correctly about 10 times in a row then I quit after the next two times I was run. After school was over my son and I went to the elementary school and he rode his bike. We took a basketball too and I made the first basket. We played first to 15 wins. He won with 15 and I had 13 that’s better then I ever played usually he beats me by double. I told him with all the luck I was having that day I should have bought a lottery ticket. Today my son and I went to get groceries and the total cane to 26.07. I had forgotten to take extra money and didn’t want to use my debit card as my bank account balance is so low right now. I counted the dollars I had and had $27 on me. How lucky is that! Today was my boyfriends birthday. After giving him presents I bought for him we ate carrot cake and ice cream which I also bought. I found out on my birthday that he and I both have the same favorite cake. So I got to eat my favorite cake today too and it wasn’t even my birthday.

Wow, you're really have a time of it at the moment. They have those simulated babies here too. I hope they work in putting a few girls off becoming too promiscuous too soon.

@paigea Now that would be an excellent idea but I don't think that is happening.

@JudyEv they need the same incentive to avoid promiscuity. Approaching it from one side only almost seems pointless

I think it is fantastic for teens to take care of the Simulated Baby at school. It should be required for all Middle Schools and High Schools. It is excellent in showing teens what a big responsibility having a baby is and not to have a baby when a youngster is too young.

@LeaPea2417 it is a good lesson for them to learn having to take care of the simulated baby. I wish all students were mandated to take care of it but some choose to do a report instead of like my nephew skipped doing either and still passed the class with a 90

What a pain the simulated baby, I can imagine how much your daughter was stressed. The gifts are really cute. Happy Birthday to your boyfriend.

@LadyDuck I wish I had been able to help her with the baby a little but she had a wrist band on that made it so only she could care for the baby. I guess it is a really good experience for them though to help prevent teen pregnancy.

@shaggin Absolutely, it is so important to prevent teen pregnancy, young girl must know what it means to have to take care of a baby.

The simulated babies are a great idea to discourage pregnancies in young girls. Congrats to your daughter on her top grades and belated birthday wishes to your boyfriend.

It would be good if every student was mandated to take care of the simulated baby overnight. They might be more careful when they become "active"

@Courtlynn oh that is a good point. My sister and I were 14 months apart and I wasn't around little cousins but I'm not sure a simulated baby would have been helpful for me either. I was on the pill for quite a few years though so I was smart there! I know a couple who had a baby when the girl was 15 and the dad was 16. They are awesome parents have three happy healthy kids and both have good jobs and are still married after 10+ years. It is wonderful for me to see since so many people don't stay together.

@shaggin nope. lol. never had those dolls and classes at our schools, but kids grow up with younger siblings and cousins and help out with them, so they know whats in store.. like me for example whos been babysitting since age 10; and had a kid at 15. having those dolls wont change most from getting pregnant young. and not all young parents are bad, most I know are better than 25-40 year old parents.

We didn't have classes like that. But wouldn't have mattered for me. Lol. Sorry she had to hold the bottle for so long though. Those are some neat prizes, and good for you not losing by much. Must be all that practice. Glad you could enjoy your favorite cake too

@Courtlynn The simulated baby is $700 that would be a huge cost just for one thing in that class. I love that they are taught some life skills in that class. They learn to cook a little etc. I remember when I took it in younger grades we were taught to sew and how to set a table like what spoon to use at a formal restaurant. Then after we learned that we were taken to a formal restaurant to eat. I didn't go because being a picky eater and a vegetarian I was afraid I wouldn't like any of the food I was given to eat.

@Courtlynn it's a good class it's to bad all schools don't mandate students take it. Looking at the responses it seems not all schools even have the class offered in their curriculum.

@shaggin I'm not surprised schools don't have them.

@jstory07 I know I keep thinking I really should have bought one as I am never that lucky. To bad the luck didn't stick around a few more days.

When you were guessing the Halloween decorations in guessing your son added to our left some our each time? At least your daughter had a good taste of mothering. Some babies take that long or even longer to nurse. Drinking from a bottle may be considerably less.

@MarshaMusselman yes he would change up the amount of houses hidden in the larger box and the first ten times in a row I guess correctly. I thought being able to give the simulated baby a pacifier would have been good but like I told my daughter she wouldn't take a pacifier and either nursed constantly or cried.

@Icydoll the things in the photo are what my daughter chose as her prize. My boyfriend enjoyed his presents I bought him but I don't have photos of them. His and my favorite gift I gave him for his birthday was a Bob Ross shirt.
