Play it Again, Sam #3a - "White Rabbit"

I'm a bit rusty, but when I went into the Federal Witness Program a couple months ago, we were at #3 in Play it Again, Sam. To refresh your memory, Play it Again, Sam is a two part discussion consisting of an original song followed by a cover of that song. #3: "White Rabbit" by The Jefferson Airplane. Psychedelic classic "White Rabbit" was written by Jefferson Airplane vocalist Grace Slick, and was originally performed by her previous band, The Great Society. When Grace joined The Jefferson Airplane, the band rerecorded the song ("Somebody to Love" was given the same treatment) for their classic 1967 album, Surrealistic Pillow. Slick claimed that the song, which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #1 in Canada, was aimed at parents that read books such as Alice in Wonderland to their kids and then wonder why their children end up on drugs. (She also claimed that she wrote the tune after tripping on LSD, which seems right.) "White Rabbit" is widely considered one of rock music's all-time great songs.
