royco, crackers, orange

I believe a lot of Filipinos know what I am referring to: this is the 'magic treatment' of our mother when we have fever, colds, or influenza. It has never failed me. I had a mug of noodles last night, although the brand ROYCO is no longer available in the groceries. But my son cooked instant noodles and offered me my mug. Skyflakes or Saltine were the brands of biscuits or crackers that go with the noodles. The fluid is also Royal Tru-Orange from Coca-Cola. For some, a soft-boiled egg is also added to the menu. I and my sister were talking about our late mother a while ago. there was sadness in the atmosphere, but whatever we learned from our mother, we still practice them. Do you have a 'regular set of food' when you have fever? I am certain many Filipinos agree with me about 'noodles, crackers, and orange'.

I remember Royco. Our mother always would give us that whenever we have fever. And yes, the Royal Tru-Orange was our favorite , but now anymore now. And Saltine also, I remember that. It was delicious. So, it's SkyFlakes that survived, not the Saltine.

oh, when you put gawgaw or cornstarch to the royal tru -orange, i think that is for loose bowel movements. i also think it is in coca-cola that is added with gawgaw.

I tend to eat chicken soup and drink lemon and ginger tea with an aspirin. It is lovely you still use what your Mom taught you. I hope you feel much better soon, Ingrid.

right now, the dry cough that i have is becoming productive and the chest pains i am feeling is slightly relieved. i have runny nose now. it only shows the phlegm in my lungs is liquefying and manifested through the cough and the nasal discharges. thank you for your concern.

@ridingbet We have this traditional drink called kadha made with boiling basil leaves, black pepper seeds, cinnamon sticks , cloves and crushed ginger. This drink works like magic.

Whenever I am sick the only softdrinks they've given me then was the Royal Tru-Orange. I just don't know why. Is it good for the body because of its orange thing.

the royal tru-orange is a carbonated drink. i think it is because of its orangey taste, unlike coca-cola that tastes like medicine, if you are sick.

it is a universal manifestation of love from our mothers. i think most mothers use this simple management and coupled with tender loving care, that makes us well from our illnesses

the 'palabok' is a dry noodles preparation, so how do you gulp down the noodles, hija? are you also given Orange drink?

does your porridge have egg? gatorade is good because it replenishes the electrolytes lost.
