The most beautiful time of the year — autumn! Today I went on my first of hopefully many foliage drives to view the marvelous scenery. My day began at the Honda dealership. Nothing wrong, just the usual oil change and tire rotation checkup for the car. I figured the oil just had to be broken in, so I took off on a drive with nowhere in particular in mind. Since I was already in Indiana I decided it’d be good to take my first foliage drive there. I ended up in Madison, home of Clifty Falls State Park. I didn’t go in the park but by it. Surprisingly, there was little color change for mid-October, both at the park and all along the route. You could see green slowly losing the battle on a number of trees, but it was still mostly green. Don’t think that diminished the beauty of the drive. I parked along the waterfront and took a walk along the banks of the Ohio River. Sunny and cool weather made the walk even better. After the refreshing walk I drove across the bridge back into Kentucky and took the backroads most of the way back to Louisville. As with Indiana, there wasn’t much color change on our side of the river, but it was still a refreshing, relaxing, and beautiful drive. I have a concert Thursday in Indianapolis, and that far north will probably yield more color than I saw today. At any rate, the drive will be filled with beauty.

Cool photo! I remember crossing over into Kentucky after a Cincinnati Reds ballgame. I think the town over the bridge was called Covington? There was a neat bar there called the Blue Moon if my memory is correct?

That's right, Covington. Or Newport, depending on which bridge you cross. There's a blue bridge you can walk across (we've done that before, parked in Kentucky and walked over to the ballpark).

@FourWalls Yes, never realized how close the ballpark was to Kentucky

That is a very pretty view. One of the maples in the neighbors' yard behind us is slowly starting to turn yellow/orange. Everything else is holding on.

The Ohio is so much prettier there than it is here. Around here it looks like coffee with too much cream in it. Of course, the river is wider here, and we have the falls and the locks, but still....

That is one thing I would really like to see - all the autumn colours.
