Car repair charges are INSANE these days!

I think that half the stuff that car manufacturers put into the car engine compartments have no purpose other than to increase the amount of time that auto service people can bill. My "72 Plymouth Scamp had a SLANT 6, a great engine with plenty of room to access everything.
