Have you received autographs from seeing and meeting a famous person? Back in the 80s, the famous exercise guru, Richard Simmons was coming to the book store at our local Mall to promote his new exercise/right eating book. My Mom, sister and I went to the book store , bought a book and stood in line to meet him and for him to sign our book. He did briefly speak to us as he signed our book. Then, in the mid 80s, my best girl pal and I spent one week during our Spring Breaks from College, visiting Los Angeles California. Her brother was living there, so he stayed with him during the week. We went site seeing and one day we learned that the famous fashion guy, "Calvin Klein" would be at one of the local malls. He was promoting one of his new lines of clothes and would be signing posters. We went and stood in line and met him and said hi as he and his model signed our poster.

Yes I had met Sir Michael Caine at his autobiography book signing. It was amazing!! When he actually spoke to me by name it was so great. I will never forget it in his cool London accent nearly Cockney. And he signed the book. Sadly, I lost that book had to leave it behind because of some abuse where I lived. Never mind.

@LeaPea2417 Yes those people where I had to leave it behind would have no knowledge or value of it.

Both at the fair.

When my daughter was a baby we were at the mall and there was the last of the three munchkins from the wizard of Oz. I had one hold my daughter up on the table so we could get a photo. I was lucky that I always carried a camera on me everywhere I went. This was before cell phone were common.

Was Richard Simmons as hyper in person as he is on TV? I've gone to a bunch of book signings but not from a lot of really big names. The biggest were Clive Barker, Doug Adams, Terry Brooks (If you like the Shannara books, you know who he is, if not, you've never heard of him) and Jeff Smith (The Frugal Gourmet).

Richard Simmons was bright and cheery that day. He actually gave my Mom, Sister & I each a kiss on the cheek as he said hello. No, I have not heard of Terry Brooks.

I have never been a fan of collecting autographs, but I have the DVD of the last Bond movie made by Sean Connery autographed by him.
