From one roast

We got a real bargain on boneless chuck roast last week, buy one, get one free. One went into the freezer. From the other roast we had: pasties for two days, a beef and veggie stew, for two meals, and there was still meat left. Hubby browned the meat that was left and cooked it up with onions and bell peppers. I rolled the meat mixture with cheese and salsa inside two flatbreads. I added cheese, sour cream and salsa to the outside after I heated the filled flatbreads in the skillet. We still have some left. So we have had ten meal servings from one roast this week. Very tasty and economical.

One of the delights of travelling through British Columbia, Canada, are their pasties. Totally addictive! I'm glad you found a way to eat economically.

It is amusing to me that wo many cultures have some type of hot hand pie to be eaten, with a regional twist of course. What was in the ones you had in Canada?

@GardenGerty Trying to remember....its been a few years. Pork or beef, not hamburger but shredded meat. Potatoes and carrots for sure. I have made them myself. An English lady that I used to know made sausage rolls which are like pasties. She used ground turkey sausage. Basic pie pastry though I think she used butter in her pastry.

I was not really trying, this time. I am pleased though. It means we are making our meat go further with more veggies.

We do that too. It is amazing sometimes how many meals you can get from one outlay.

@GardenGerty When we buy a roast we usually work out about how many meals we'll get from it.

Yes it is. It did not feel as if we scrimped at all, with lots of good vegetables.
