Loneliness is depressing while aloneness can be a pleasant experience. Loneliness is cause by the absence of someone. Sometimes, people confuse companionship with love and when that person is gone, loneliness sets in and can cause a lot of pain. Aloneness is about not depending on others for your happiness. It is a mind-set built on confidence and belief in oneself. It's also the joy of being in the presence and not dwell on the past. We may be social beings but taking time out to be with ourself can be rewarding. Away from the confusing noise competing for our attention, solitude allows us time to reflect on our life priorities. Also to gauge our strength and weakness. Are you comfortable being alone or do you need to constantly surround yourself with people? Image: Pixabay I love this song. One of my favorites

I am one of those people who can be alone and be very happy. At the office, my officemates are all my friends, but sometimes, I can eat alone in the canteen without feeling lonely at all when my close officemates will not be taking their early lunches. I love going to the mall to shop, alone. At least, I have no one to wait on nor to bother, when I still have lots of stores to choose what I am going to buy.

@josie_ Correct! It is you who knows what suits you. I only bring along my husband when it's for him that we will be buying.

I also prefer shopping alone if possible. At least whatever things you purchase was base on your preference and not by the persuasion of others. Take clothes for an example. How come people seem to know what style fits or is "bagay na bagay" for you?

When I was young I enjoyed alone time a lot! I like it less now as an adult but I think everyone needs at least a few minutes to themselves.

I would have thought it would be the other way around. Being with our age group and the "follies of our youth".

So do you enjoy solitude or prefer being in a crowd?
