How do you plan your finances or savings?

Usually I am using microsoft excel to monitor my expenses and every salary I am listing down of what should spend or what will be the priority. Then if that is too much then I would spend it for my next salary. Usually I am saving for the education of my daughter including as well in enrollment to sports and other activities, shopping, payment of utilities and if I want to avail some product online. I am also saving for our joint too in case of emergency and for the retirement just in case.
