Given the importance of religion to many people in the world today, I do not think that studying it is a useless pursuit. By understanding what various religions teach, and how they influence the way people behave, we stand a better chance of preserving world peace and co-operation.
There is, however, no place for giving religious instruction in schools.
I agree that language learning is another way of bringing people together. There is a place for both languages and religious education in schools.

well I am not sure as I am green on this.When my kids were in they were teaching Spanish in fourth or fifth grade or earlier.
This as many years ago.Not not sure?
