I have a notice of an Amazon sign in code in my yahoo mail. Is this on the up and up? I cannot tell. I have not gone over to Amazon to try to sign in. I will do it later. I have a password, so why do I need a sign in code? I have not had any trouble signing in. Shoot, I have not even been there today. I will keep you posted.

Sounds like the text I received from "Bell Mobility" this afternoon. They informed me that I had been overcharged for my phone service (like that's a surprise) and they wanted me to go to a website.....it looked legit, but I just deleted. My bell mobility was cancelled six months ago.

I got something like that for my paypal acct but I don't log onto anything from those emails. I logged into my paypal later and had no messages on the board so I think it was a scam.

I don’t recall their being a code. I shop on there often and really don’t remember that but some sites do require two factor verification or something like that and will send a code to your phone to ensure you aren’t a hacker trying to sign in. If you aren’t sure contact amazon help chat and ask them if the email is real.

If I had requested help signing in, I have had a code texted to me. I was not sure who to contact.

Either someone other than you tried to sign in or Amazon didn't recognize your device. Connecting apps like Paribus will also cause these codes to be sent

Nope, this was a spoof or scam. I have hesitated to connect anything like Paribus or others. Thanks for the information.

I suspect they are trying to trick me into revealing some of my information.

I would not do it through an e-mail.

I will not sign in through my e mail. I will actually go to Amazon in a little bit and check it out.

It was a phishing e mail. The real site, Amazon, likes you to send them a copy as an attachment. Of course I signed in to my Amazon from my browser, not my e mail. While hovering over the e mail, there was a phone number revealed. I followed that trail and found that that phone number does come up Amazon on caller ID but it is a magazine scam demanding payment for a subscription people have never ordered.

@GardenGerty even if you followed the link in the email you can usually check the web address. That will normally have some red in it as either the browser recognized the scam or it could be our security suite that does that. Sometimes we'd even get a direct warning. When I've seen the warning in the address the http: is red. Like lately I've had a red symbol to the left of the mylot url. It took till last night to get the warning associated with it which is related to sharing passwords and account info which isn't needed here anyway. I wonder whether they-mylot changed something or if the browsers are getting more secure.
