An October Day

The weather was cooler today and I enjoyed my two mile walk under the trees. It always makes me feel better to get out and hike the hills and trails. I worked up a little sweat before I finished my walk.
I saw squirrels scampering around on the ground. They must be gathering food for winter, and a few birds were flying overhead.
I passed several people on the trail and stopped to speak to a few. But I didn't get away unscathed. I felt a sting and before I could think I grabbed my shirt where the sting was and came away with a squashed honey bee.
I hated that. I would never kill a honey bee. Our bees are disappearing at an alarming rate. He was a goner though. I put ice on my sting when we got home but it's puffed up and still stinging.

The scenery in the picture is very beautiful. I like green. I can imagine how comfortable it is to walk there.

Sorry you got stung on your hike. It's nice that you care about that bee and all honey bees.

Are you allergic to bee stings? I've gotten stung too many times but I don't think I swelled up from any of them. One time I did get a headache but that was after several bees got me on top of my head before I realized they were above where I was standing.

@RubyHawk I used to climb the hills in Cocle Panama where my late grandma lived. It was fun going to her home in the mountains.

@Deepizzaguy I don’t believe I could live without trees. But I’ve never had to. My grandchildren used to come walk with me but my youngest was married last weekend. I’m sure your grandmother loved you walking with her.

Sorry you got stung. I walked for an hour and Tony walked a few laps. It was nice and cloudy with cold wind.
