October 17 is the 29th anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake

Thank goodness it wasn't worse. We were in an earthquake in San Francisco and years later in Puerto Rico. I was very frightened.

Earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes three very destructive forces of nature. That must of been so scary since your at the mercy of nature even if you could prepare.

I am worried about earthquakes that often occur lately, which have claimed quite a number of victims.

We were at the dinner table. I remember hanging on to the table and my Dad looking across the table at the shelves behind me to be sure nothing fell on my head.

I've seen some videos of this earth quake, people were crying and in panic.

A lot of people asked me last week where I was when the earthquake hit. I was safely on the other side of the country! I didn't move out here for another 10 years or so.

Sorry you had to experience that. I have gone through a few earth tremors and that was unsettling enough.

That must have been very scary. I feel fortunate to live in a country (the UK) that is not riven with unstable geological faults or is near the boundary of a tectonic plate - unlike California! We only get very occasional tremors that hardly anyone can feel, these being caused by things like underground collapses of abandoned mine tunnels and the like. We also don't get tornadoes, hurricanes or rattlesnakes!

It is frightening when we hear of earthquakes; more so because we are in the ring of fire.

I was in New Zealand when I first felt a tremor from an earthquake (we were in a hotel in Wellington back then). I was surprised and was explained that New Zealand happened to have lots of tremors like that.

i just reread the post. i was there in Concord when it happened. 2 weeks later , i moved out of that state for good. i had just went to my second job and was clocking in. i thought i was just dizzy from working too much when a lady said stay in the doorway. its an earthquake. couldn't reach my child on the phone for hours. next couple of weeks cleaned rooms that were filled to the walls with emergency workers sleeping and working in shifts. getting people out of that big peice of freeway that collapsed etc. scared the whole time and couldn't hardly wait to move out

Earthquakes are indeed scary. You never know when it’ll hit.

I remember that earthquake. I didn't live in California, but it was news.

I remember that on TV I think! That was a scary one and I remember seeing the excitement on the field.
