I notice that foreigners will have different kinds of knives when they cook. However, it seems that many Chinese don't use so many different knives when they cook. Usually we just use a knife looks like the attached photo and it can deal with everything

I think sizes and kinds of knives are specific for such kind of cuts. And there are knives for meat and for vegetables.

@m_audrey6788 Perhaps the habit can be different everywhere. For example, if I buy meat, such as pork or beef, sometimes I even ask the the seller to cut it for me

I think most Chinese buy the bread from the bakery and usually they are well cut already. Since I bake the bread on my own, I have a bread knife.

I think not many foreigners like you who use one knife only. As I see they have a set of various kinds of knives and look like everybody is a good chef

@youless Honest I oon´t care for many knives for me one is enough and if I have to buy another one its one what I like the feel of not too sharp like a lot are and I am not a good chef like those on the television you know those wizards of the Kitchen. I just love natural food cooked normally and not turned into something I cannot recognize as being what it was.

@Freewings Well one knife does not meet the need of an European chef.

The one you've talked about is the slice knife of western style kitchen knives, which looks like a Chinese kitchen knife. In the past, a knife could meet all the needs of a Chinese chef.
