Another Day, Another Hank

MyLot Exclusive #50 Yesterday, I dedicated this space to Hank Moody. Today, I am asking, when was the last time you heard Hank Williams? Sr, not Jr. Has time advanced to the point where many of you answer, "Never?" Even if that is true, one thing I know for sure is that another many of you know who he is and a good number like him. The reason for that is simple. Hank is on the list of Country Legends that most people love, even if they hate country music. Along with Chet Atkins (Most people who play guitar in any genre idolize him because he ranks with the greatest players who ever lived), Jerry Reed, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline. And it looks like Taylor Swift might be the next one to be added. I may be wrong but I think her work is going to age well and in twenty years, some of the songs you think are stupid right now will strike you differently. Now, in the spirit of fair play, I'll answer my own question. I last heard Hank Williams yesterday afternoon during The Randi Rhodes Show (Link at the bottom in case you've never heard of her). It was played right before The Green Report and it was the first time in a long time for me. I thought that was sad in a way. I also figured that lots of other people are in the same boat. So I'm going to solve the problem. So all of them can answer, "Just the other day," the next time the question is posed to them. Not for the whole world. That's beyond my abilities but I can change my little tiny corner of it, my 84 million loyal, dedicated, daily readers. So, here we go, direct from 1950 to your eyes and ears, here is the one, the only, Hank Williams. https://randirhodes.com/

In my circles, nobody ever asks who you mean when you say “Hank.” And consider that there are three Hanks (Williams, Thompson, and Snow) in the Country Music Hall of Fame!

@xander6464 — I think the most inducted name is James or some variation (Jimmie Rodgers, Jim Reeves, Jimmy Dickens, Jim Ed Brown, Jimmy Dean, Jim Denny, Jimmy Fortune of the Statler Brothers, Jimmie Davis, and Jim Fogelsong...I’m sure I’m forgetting one or two). I forgot Hank Cochran in my list....and Hank Locklin should be inducted, so they’ll have a Hank wing soon enough!

I never looked at it that way. If they get a few more Hanks, they can open a whole Hank Wing.

So you like Hank Williams Sr. I got it. So are you ready for some Buck Owens?

Who doesn't like Buck Owens? Either by himself or picking and grinning with Roy.

I know his name, just as you said I would know those others as well even though I don't like Country music. It's the twang and the woeful sound they make.

I totally understand that. Listening to song after mediocre song about mama dying, the tractor won't start and the truck is broke down is a big drag. But some can do it right and make it pleasurable and interesting. But that still doesn't work for everyone.

@sallypup Technically, I think she's considered country-rock.
