Sunday Dinner

My Mom always fried chicken on Sunday after church. A memory I will never forget. She would sing church hymns as she cooked. Although I was 14 when she died, I have 14 years of memories. She was such an inspiration to everyone she met. Always had a smile and a kind word. Sunday seems incomplete without fried chicken. And I can still hear her voice singing in the kitchen as she cooked. Forever memories. Do you have a favorite food you eat on a certain day?

My Mom would cook a lovely lunch after the Church: for 8 people in our house. It was a wonderful time and we have tons of memories about those Sunday dinners, but also she did cook all the other meals. My Mom is very much missed by all of us.

My mom didn't make fried chicken but we always had some sort of large roast on Sunday, it could be beef, or pork or lamb. I can still picture my mom with her pretty apron cooking in the kitchen after church. My mom would be singing some French song that we didn't know but I loved hearing her sing anyway

I don't associate certain foods with certain days unless it's turkey for Christmas and Thanksgiving. But popcorn on rainy days is a tradition from my childhood.

@CarolDM WE always celebrated Sunday dinners with extended family unless it was impossible. The foods varied, as did the location, but in a home or at a restaurant, we spent Sunday afternoons with family.

What is "friend chicken"? My father and my brother did not like chicken, Mom always prepared roasted beef for Sunday.

@CarolDM There seems to be. My grandmother was the same way. It was usually fried chicken but sometimes homemade chicken and noodles.

Fried chicken on Sundays sounds like a nice memory. When I was growing up we'd have pancakes and sausage for breakfast on Sundays at my great-grandma's....but I'm never there for breakfast anymore. Every other Friday is hamburgers, so I guess that is the thing these days.

Such good memories you have, I make pancakes, eggs and bacon every Sunday morning after church for my grand kids. That was pancake sunday when my son was alive and now that he is gone they have me do it for them. I love making them smile and letting them remember their daddy.
