Mirrors of the Past

I'm again on one of my poetic moods. A bit dark though. Mirrors of the Past Memories, It's a pebble skipping through the water surface dancing in temporal delight only to be swallowed beneath the darkness Memories, Etch in the sands of time each grain a world of it's own You try gathering them into your hand only to find it slipping through your fingers Memories, like chasing the wind it comes unannounced then it is gone elusive as a butterfly when pursued always near but never grasp Memories, mirrors of the past casting no reflection only hues of monochrome shadows the light long ago extinguish The vagabond soon tires of drifting lays down to rest his weary bones with one last sigh cut ties with the living In someone's memory he becomes a mirror of the past

If only we could change the past. But then memories will cease to exist.

I am familiar with her writings since our Bubblews days. Her witty limericks are a delight to read. She's also an avid gardener.

Thank you. I usually do poetry when a phrase I happen to be reading acts like a prompt giving me the idea for a poem.

@josie_ That is the best way. How I write many of my posts when reading or listening to some good substantial substance that is cool or makes sense.

@arthurchappell _This if the first time I've heard of Sally Oldfield although I occasionally listen to Celtic music mostly those of Enya. Just finish listening to Sally Oldfield's "My damsel's heart" and I find I am liking it.

A good one . Read it, and I thought of some bad experience/bad memories I had, those, when they came and gone (slipping through your fingers...) I just felt such a relief. Memories, "elusive as a butterfly" made me think of my forgetfulness these days... Things come and gone in my mind, I would sit there thinking, 'what just passed my mind I wonder, something, something... but I can't grab it!!!

Thank you. As for my own memories, they come and go without any regards to my preference, disposition and lucidity.

@simplfred _It's best to keep the dark stuff hidden and put up a happy demeanor. In my case I put those stuff into my poetry instead.

We are the vagabond who go through life drifting between moments of lucidity and delusions. Nothing makes sense anymore. So don't take my reply seriously.

Often I wonder what good is it remembering the painful past. Wouldn't it be better to just wipe the slate clean and move on?

@josie_ that made us stronger. And usually those painful past become are the one give us one smile if we remember them.. not always but it is to many people.
