Doctor visit

Had a doctor visit today. Mostly I argued with her and daughter about medicines I don't want to take. Yes, I am a bad patient . can't help it. I grew up back in the 50's and 60's when doctors did not dispense drugs like candy cures. I still think that is what causes our drug problems today. I tried to raise my kids the same way but pier pressure worked against me . Anyway, today people have the idea this or that drug is going to make you all better and at times some do. but not always. You get dependent on certain things then you need them all the time. Then, you can't get them any more for some reason. Most people can't stop. That is how they end up getting them illegally. Has anyone watched The Conners? It is the replacement for taking Roseanne back off because of her being fired. Something she said got her fired and they can't use that name any more. I thought it was well done. They give the reason she has died on that first episode as she over dosed on opiates /pain pills prescribed to many others. Anyway, just saying, it is the big problem today causing drug use. Doctors push them cause company pay them for it. Then they become unavailable . my reason for not liking to take extra drugs. What do you think?

I think doctors today prescribe the pain meds when people do not need them, and when people DO need them, they won´t prescribe them. I think the situation is all effed up Bonnie.

We are still old fashioned in this country. Doctors avoid to give you medication if not absolutely necessary. I do not take medicines.

@LadyDuck see that is what i mean. over time our doctors just keep adding stuff for every illness we get and don't say when we can stop taking them

@bunnybon7 Our personal doctor is pretty young, but against unnecessary medications. He is even against the small aspirin, it's not really proven that it is useful and aspirin in the long run damages the stomach.

@sharon6345 The fact is that I have never been seriously ill. I had to get antibiotics three years ago due to an infection. When I had migraines I took Ibuprofen, if I cough I ask to my pharmacist for a syrup. The only medication I need are eye drops because of my glaucoma.

I do agree that doctors are too quick to pull out that prescription pad . I would rather try a homeopathic remedy first and then if it didn't work get a prescription
