Abandoned (at the Arkham Asylum)

abandoned

This piece is oddly moving; for some reason the doll seems more forlorn than a person would be in the same position. I expect this is because we intuitively understand that a person could simply leave of their own accord while the abandoned doll is doomed to remain there until her heartless owner returns to redeem her or she crumbles to dust...

It looks creepy, spooky, and alas, poor doll. Awesome creation. I keep expecting some crazed doctor to come charging through those doors.

it could happen. I know for a fact that an evil nurse lives there, too...

then you need to read more H.P.Lovecraft, which is where DC swiped the name from

@mesbakh No, but Lovecraft invented it and there were no superheroes or supervillains there

I would not want that poor doll on my bedside stand. No thanks. Poor thing.

@ledante That doll is life sized. Yikes. I really don't have a bedside stand, just an oak dresser.

Are you a Batman fan? I don't think those criminally insane incarcerated in the Arkham Asylum can leave on their own accord. Best guess of the doll's owner, Poison Ivy.

@ledante _I only know the Arkham Asylum appeared in the Batman series. I have heard of HP Lovecraft but not familiar with his works. Is it any similar to Edgar Allan Poe's horror tales?

I feel sorry about this. There are actually so many human beings like this doll who have been left isolated, abandoned by their family members and friends.

the doll is meant to be a metaphor for all the people who've been abandoned for whatever reason

It looks more like a digital work than a painting. Is it from an anime ?

I have seen so many such people in our country who despite being supported by old age homes, Ngos, etc are struggling from within to start a happy life afresh. I really sorry for such people and some day I woupd like to help such people.
