Poem - What To Do With All The Love Nah, not much rhymes with love, Guv, There’s glove, shove, & dove, And that’s about yer lot. It’s surprisin’ love got Into so many romantic songs And poems as if it belongs Among words with lots of rhymes. I can’t believe how many times Shakespeare, The Beatles and others Use Love to praise lovers, mothers, brothers, And even cats & dogs. Love hogs A lot of verse for a word with so few matches You’ll find it catches a ride in snatches Of melody everywhere Every time we share Valentine cards and how we care For friends, or our husband and wife Love cements us together in the joys of life But we don’t give it more opportunity to rhyme. It seems ungrateful of us after all this time. So many sonnets, letters, kisses and vows No wonder many singers just repeat love as much as their time allows Love, love, love, love, love, All for you my little darling dove Nothing much rhymes because no other word compares to a love so true There’s no better ending than simply saying I love you. I had never thought before about how love isn't often rhymed in songs and I thought, "That can't be right." But as I read this, three songs popped into my mind. All You Need Is Love, She Loves You and the theme from Love American Style and sure enough, they don't...Sometimes they rhyme love with itself, kind of but not really. And then more songs followed and now I can't stop thinking about it.

@xander6464 I was quite surprised how few rhymes it has - named them all in the poem

@xander6464 yes, frightfully few, though you can add prefixes, ie, glove - foxglove, dove - turtle-dove, etc

Humans were created out of love and live in love Isn't the greatest commandment is about loving God and our fellow humans.

@arthurchappell the ancient Greeks had like eight different flavors of love, but for some reason the modern world wants to lump everything into the same category

@arthurchappell so why apply a generic term like love to both? why not use lust and comradery?

Hard to find a love that's so true and pure; Are you a delusion, or a fantasy I'm unsure.

So simple but at times so difficult to say. One song I remember has the words LOVE HURTS and that phrase is often repeated throughout that song. The Beatles used Love in many songs, for instance, ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE & SHE LOVES YOU AND YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD BE GLAD.

@lookatdesktop yes the Beatle All You Need Is Love can be used as an anti-war and anti-state control message too
This is the most chilling playback performance of The Beatles' "All You Need is Love" EVER; as it was featured in the final episode of the cult TV series "Th...

I love the playfulness of the poem. It was delightful to read and be bemuse by it's witty humor. If only we could just be spectators observing the follies of "Love", but we have all been guilty of committing some of them in our lifetime.
