This is what Robbie Hatley says about his mom

The situation is still the same: she's still stuck at Seal Beach Rehabilitation. I was able to transport about half of her own clothing to her because her hospital room does have a small closet, so she now has things to wear other than hospital gowns. And I brought her her purse so she now has her ID and insurance cards with her. But she has no room to put any further possessions, so all the rest of her stuff is stored her in my apartment. And her eyesight and hearing both continue to be very bad. I've been trying to pressure the place she's staying to provide hearing aids and cataract surgeries, but without success so far. So, that's the situation. I was wondering if anyone who has written has heard back from her? I am going to admit I have not been diligent about it. I guess it is time to load her up with Christmas cards and other greetings.

This is so sad. It must be difficult for her son but I guess there are others who don't even have a son to look out for their interests.

It is very complicated for him to get there, no mass transit out to there from where he is. He has to get friends to take him. He can talk to the home, but Patsie is hard to talk to on the phone, at least for me, as she really cannot hear. I suggest we send a card shower, but write large and with dark ink.

Poor, poor Patsie. What a shame. She hasn't responded to any of my cards or letters, but I can understand why. They will continue to be sent. Thank goodness her son is trying to stay on top of things and thanks for sharing.

I was wondering if anyone had heard from her. I called her once. She has an awful time hearing on the phone.

Thank you so much for giving us some news about Patsie. We miss her and hope that she will be able to see better (cataracts fixed) and get to write again.

We would hope so, but our medical system does not take good care of our old folks here in the US.

Oh no. That's too bad. I'm happy she's safe and all but that can't be fun. I wish they would allow her to have her computer in there. Does anyone have an address?

@FayeHazel I think there would be no way for her to keep it secure.

It is that there is not room. I guess as Robbie describes it, it is like a hospital room. Her address is on my profile page. A number of people have sent her cards and letters.

I was just thinking about her yesterday. You have her address? The least they could do is cataract surgery.

For cataracts, the way I am told, you have to wait until they are bad enough before you get surgery. Her address is on my profile page.

Thanks for the post. And let me say that it is a shame that in a rich country, a woman who has worked all her life and given so much to others cannot have help to get eye surgery and hearing aid. In my country that is a right.

Our health care does not care. I wish we could have better coverage for all.

Thanks a lot for update. Hatley represents so much strength, hope, and courage. I did receive a message for her son a few weeks ago, but you had come up with a post so I did not repeat that. Thanks a million for this update.

You know, I think it is important that we reach out to him as well. He is not the bad guy. He has tried to do right by his mom. I notice on Facebook he has friended a number of people from myLot.

If she were to get cataract surgery that would help with that problem.

Thanks for the update on Patsie. She'll feel better in her own clothes, but if she could get back to myLot she'd feel even better. I visited my 96 year old Auntie on Friday and was shocked at the change in her since the last time I saw her (in the spring).

Poor Patsie. You get to a certain age and they won't do anything to help you because they don't see it as "feasible." Thanks for keeping us up to date on her.
